The Ancestor of Shao Surname——Shao Gong Shi
召公奭，原名姬奭，周文王庶子，周武王同父异母之兄，周公之弟。约生于公元前1090年，卒于公元前周康王二十六年。因食采于召，故以邑为氏（姓）。谥号召康公，是邵姓肇姓始祖。
Shao Gong Shi, whose original name was Ji Shi, was a son of King Wen of Zhou by a concubine, the elder brother of King Wu of Zhou from a different mother, and the younger brother of Duke Dan of Zhou. He was born around 1090 BC and died in the 26th year of the reign of King Kang of Zhou, around BC. He took his surname from the name of his feudal land, Shao, because he was enfeoffed there. His posthumous title was "Zhaokang Gong", and he is the ancestor of the Shao surname.
召公奭辅佐周武王灭商，因功受封蓟地（今北京），建立燕国。但他没有去封地就封，而是留在镐京辅佐周王室。任太保，与周公旦等共同辅佐周成王。治于是陕地以西，很得百姓拥护，曾在棠梨树下判断案件、处理政事，深得民心。《诗经·召南》有《甘棠》一诗，称颂此事，这就是“甘棠遗爱”典故的由来。周成王死后，召公奭继续辅佐周康王，开创四十多年未用刑罚的“成康之治”，为周朝打下延续八百多年的坚实基础。
Shao Gong Shi assisted King Wu of Zhou in overthrowing the Shang Dynasty and was awarded the title of Marquis of Yan in the Ji region (now Beijing) as a reward for his service. However, he did not go to his fiefdom to take up his position but instead remained in Hao Capital (the capital of the Western Zhou Dynasty, located in present-day Xi'an, Shaanxi Province) to assist the royal family of the Zhou Dynasty. He served as the Grand Tutor and, together with Duke Dan of Zhou, advised King Cheng of Zhou. Governing the western part of the Shaanxi region, he enjoyed immense popularity among the people. He judged cases and handled government affairs under the pear tree, earning deep affection from the people. The Book of Songs (Shi Jing) contains a poem titled "Sweet Pear Tree" in the "Southern Shao" section, which commemorates this event, giving rise to the idiom "lasting affection for the sweet pear tree." After the death of King Cheng of Zhou, Shao Gong Shi continued to assist King Kang of Zhou, ushering in the "Chengkang Reign of Peace," a period of more than 40 years during which no criminal punishment was imposed, laying a solid foundation for the Zhou Dynasty to last for more than 800 years.

The poem "Sweet Pear Tree" extols the virtuous governance of Shao Gong Shi, expressing admiration and nostalgia for him through the praise and care for the sweet pear tree.
Lush pear trees grow tall and green,
Trimmed not, chopped not, but tenderly seen,
Where once Shao Bo resided serene.
Vigorous pear trees stand in full bloom,
Uncut, unbroken, with tender groom,
A resting place where Shao Bo once roamed.
Verdant pear trees flourish without fear,
Untrimmed, unbroken, with gentle care,
A halting spot where Shao Bo held dear.
